This Zsolnay figure is built after the statue of Anonymus, a bronze sculpture by the Hungarian sculptor Miklós Ligeti in Budapest from 1903. It honors the hitherto unknown author of the Gesta Hungarorum, a chronicle of the Magyars from their settlement in the Danube plain in 896 to the present day early middle ages.

Below is the inscription carved in stone: ANONYMVS = GLORIOSISSIMI BELÆ REGIS NOTARIVS (Anonymus = the scribe of the most glorious King Béla)
